After a long wait, Ather has finally launched its new electric family scooter named Ather Rizta. This scooter features the largest seat and ample boot space, designed with the Indian family in mind. That’s why it’s also referred to as a family scooter.
Ather Rizta
Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO of Ather Energy, stated, “After the success of our 450 series in the two-wheeler market, we are now venturing into the family segment with the newly launched Rizta. This bike has been designed keeping the entire family in mind. It focuses on key aspects such as comfort, safety, and connected technology. The Rizta scooter has been launched in the market with its new design, which has been entirely crafted keeping families in mind. It features a 900 mm long seat, which is larger than any other scooter in India. Underneath the seat, there’s ample boot space, providing a total of 56 liters of storage capacity in the scooter. Out of this, 34 liters of space is available under the seat, while the remaining 22 liters of space in the frunk can be used for accessories, allowing you to store items like wallets, phones, and more.
Ather Rizta Design
In terms of design, the lighting is arranged horizontally. The front apron showcases a headlight cluster laid out horizontally, incorporating integrated DRLs and turn indicators. The side and tail panel are merged into a cohesive unit, reflecting Ather’s efforts to blend form and function in the Rizta’s design. The tail-light, resembling the bar-style shape of the headlight, elegantly complements the overall bodywork. And support has also been provided for the pillion rider. Since the scooter is significantly more practical than its 450 series counterparts, it forgoes its sharp, aerodynamic design in favor of a more boxy appearance.
Rizta models
In Ather’s new Rizta, two models are available:
1) Rizta S
2) Rizta Z.
When it comes to the Z model, it also comes in two different variants, differing only in battery capacity.
Battery capacity
Regarding the battery, there are two sizes available. The Rizta S features a 2.9kWh battery, providing a true range of 105km. As for the Rizta Z, it offers two battery options: the standard 2.9kWh battery similar to the ‘S’ model, and a larger 3.7kWh battery with a true range of 125km. The battery comes with a standard warranty of five years/60,000km. Ather mentions that it boasts an IP67 rating, and the Rizta offers a convenient 400m water wading capability. Additionally, a charging point has been provided under the seat, allowing devices like mobile phones to be charged under the hood. A 2.9 kWh battery takes 6 hours and 40 minutes to charge from 0 to 80%, whereas a 3.7 kWh battery only takes 4 hours and 30 minutes to charge from 0 to 80%.
