The dates for the next Lok Sabha election 2024 were revealed today by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. There will be seven phases to the polls, starting on April 19 and concluding on June 1. On June 4, the results will be announced.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar explained that the decision to conduct the polls in seven phases was carefully made, taking into consideration various factors such as geographic conditions, festivals, and examinations. Today, he officially announced the dates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which will commence on April 19 and conclude on June 1. The results of the elections are scheduled to be announced on June 4.
During a press conference held today, the Election Commission stated its commitment to addressing the obstacles to free and fair elections, commonly referred to as the “4Ms” – muscle power, financial influence, dissemination of misinformation, and violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced that voters aged 85 and above, as well as those with over 40% disability, will be given the opportunity to vote from their homes. Additionally, he assured that essential amenities such as drinking water and restrooms will be provided at every polling booth.

In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a staggering 96.8 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes, with 1.82 crore of them being first-time voters and 19.47 crore falling in the age group of 20-29 years. To facilitate this massive electoral process, the Election Commission has established 10.5 lakh polling booths, which will be staffed by 1.5 crore polling officials and security personnel. Additionally, a total of 55 lakh Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been prepared for the voting process.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar further elaborated that the total number of eligible voters stands at 96.8 crore, with 49.72 crore male voters and 47.1 crore female voters. The Lok Sabha elections, spanning 543 seats, will unfold in seven phases, with the first phase commencing on April 19. Vote counting is scheduled for June 4.

According to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), the electoral process will unfold in phases across the nation. In the initial phase, elections will be held for 102 constituencies, followed by 89 in the second phase, 94 in the third phase, 96 in the fourth phase, 49 in the fifth phase, 57 in the sixth phase, and finally, 57 in the seventh phase.

Phase 2 :- Lok Sabha elections 2024 will start on April 26, including voting in 13 states and Union Territories.
phase 3 :- on May 7, the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will unfold across 12 states and Union Territories.
phase 4 :- The fourth phase, spanning 10 states and Union Territories, will commence on May 13.

Vote counting for all elections, comprising by-elections, assembly elections, and general elections, is scheduled for June 4. The current government’s term is set to conclude on June 16.
